End grain is the difference between a board that lasts and one that looks tired in two years. The wood is turned so the fibers face up, which means a knife edge parts them rather than slicing across them. The grain closes back over the cut — the board heals — and your knives stay sharp longer for the same reason.
It's the construction professional kitchens use, and it's why this is heavy, thick, and priced like a piece of equipment rather than an accessory. Rubber feet lift it off the counter so air moves underneath and it doesn't slide while you work.
Three sizes. The 18 by 12 at an inch and a quarter is a serious everyday board. The 24 by 18 at two inches thick is a permanent fixture — the kind of thing that stays out on the counter and eventually gets handed down.

Engraved boards are cut to your specifications and can't be remade, so please check the spelling carefully before adding to cart. If you spot a mistake, contact me right away and I'll do everything I can to catch it before the board goes to engraving.
